THE ARMED Forces Charity (SSAFA) Solihull branch have thanked Silhillians who attended its annual flag day celebration.
Over £600 was raised on the day which gives communities the opportunity to show their support for troops, families, veterans and cadets.
SSAFA was founded in 1885 to provide allowances and volunteers for military families at home.
Since then the service expanded to helping bereft families, providing a link between relatives and loved ones in service, and a home away from home for injured troops.
