Arden Academy pupil lands record deal

A TEENAGER’S lockdown project to learn music production has secured him a record deal.

Sam Wiseman, who attends Arden Academy, taught himself music production during lockdown last year, before independently releasing his songs online.

The 17-year-old’s house beats caught the attention of Rotterdam based record label Soave – a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment – where he has signed a deal.

Sam’s debut track with the label, I Need You is a collaboration with artists Cian B and Rico56 and follows a year of musical achievements, including winning a remix competition by renowned electronic duo Disclosure.

The teenager, who is currently getting ready for his final year of A Levels at the Knowle-based schools, says that he drew influence for the track from popular artists including Shift K3y and SOMMO.

Sam said: “I began producing music in the middle of lockdown, whilst picking up new hobbies and for the next year or so, I was exploring different genres of music, to then find my niche in deep house at the end of 2021.

“From then until now I have collaborated with many different notable artists in the industry, and this latest signing with Soave records is truly exciting.”

Sam’s debut single will be available for download on Friday, August 19, on all major streaming platforms.
