PLANS TO build almost 200 affordable homes in Chelmsley Wood have been handed to Solihull Council.
The former Simon Digby School site has been earmarked for development when Solihull Council adopted its 2013 local plan.
Vistry Group have submitted plans to create 177 one- to four-bedroom homes .
Documents handed to the council say 45 per cent of these will be family sized three and four-bedroom homes to support those most in need in Solihull.
The plans state 65 per cent of the homes will be social and affordable homes and the remaining 35 per cent will be available via the shared ownership scheme.
Documents also reveal a new equipped play area and with a connected pedestrian footpath, providing easy access for all including existing nearby residents.
The Design and Access statement created by Ophir Architecture Ltd on behalf of Vistry Group says: “The Simon Digby site is an important opportunity within North Solihull which will make a significant contribution to the housing needs of the borough including affordable housing and has been allocated as a housing site in the Solihull Local Plan.”
