Appeal renewed over Acocks Green carjacking where baby was stolen

AN APPEAL over a carjacking where a baby was stolen in Acocks Green has been renewed by Crimewatch Live.

The BBC One show is set to be broadcast at 9.15am every weekday morning until Friday March 22.

Among the appeals is the harrowing incident which happened at around 4pm on July 19 last year, and we reported.

New mum Clare O’Neill had just arrived home and was about to take her four-week old baby Eliza out of the back seat of her car when masked thieves grabbed her keys, she tells Crimewatch.

They then began to drive away in her car, with Eliza still in the back.

Clare tried to hold onto the vehicle but was thrown onto the road.

On Monday (March 11) morning’s Crimewatch Roadshow Live Clare said: “I was dragged probably 12 feet down the road by the car, that’s probably when I lost consciousness.

“The next thing I know I’m up on my feet, and I’m getting up to run like Usain Bolt after that car.

“I just remember sitting on the floor thinking my baby, she’s gone.

“How do you tell your husband that someone’s kidnapped your baby?”

Just under an hour later Eliza was found safe and well.

On Monday, West Midlands Police appealed for help from the public to identify those responsible for this crime.

The force is urging anyone who has seen the grey Audi A3 S Line to come forward as soon as possible.

The registration number is BJ66 YLV.

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
