A FUNDRAISING appeal for two Solihull teenagers who face losing their mum to cancer weeks after their dad tragically died has rocketed to £10k within three days.
The donations page is dedicated to Balsall Common kids Louis, 16 and Ella Maley, 14 who have recently learned their mother is suffering from incurable cancer and has been given a month to live.
The appeal has captured the hearts of the region, with the siblings still recovering from the loss of their dad Paul, 44, who died only three weeks ago.
The page has raised £10,612 made up by donations from 434 people in less than three days.
The figure is still rising rapidly and has smashed its initial target of just £5,000.
Mother, Emma, turned 40 in November and was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. She was given a terminal diagnosis late last year.
Tragedy struck on March 8 when her partner Paul suddenly died 11 days before the couple were to get married after being together for 18 years.
It is understood he was suffering from an undetected Arteriovenous Malformation growth on his brain.
Cousin Kate Smith, who started the fundraising campaign, will help Emma’s mother who will take the siblings into her care after Emma’s passing.
Younger sibling Ella suffers from autism and requires specialist support and care to assist with her education and her transition into adulthood.
Ms Smith said the fundraising page was set up in the hope it might provide for the sibling’s future life without their parents.
Kate Smith wrote on the page description: “On Friday March 23 we said goodbye to Paul, a wonderful Dad to Louis and Ella, and partner to our beautiful Emma (my cousin, who is also like a little sister and my best friend all in one).
“Ella is my god-daughter – she is autistic and will need full support and care for many years to come, and this is one of the reasons for setting up this page.
“This tragic story has touched so many people who want to try and do something to help Emma and the children.
“These children have already suffered so much pain losing their beloved Dad so very suddenly, but knowing they are also going to loose their Mum is incomprehensible.
“Any donations that are made will be for Louis and Ella’s future.
“Money will never replace their parents but, it will help them do things they want to do and help us achieve milestones that Paul and Emma unfortunately won’t be here for.
“Thank you for any donation, no matter how small it will help us to make a difference.”
