Appeal for information after cyclist dies in Yardley

POLICE are appealing for information after a cyclist died in a collision with a car in Yardley.

West Midlands Police said it was called to the roundabout at the junction of Stoney Lane and Church Road in Yardley just after 9.45pm on Tuesday (June 18).

The cyclist, a 48-year-old man, was confirmed dead at the scene.

His family has been informed and is being supported by officers.

The driver of the black Ford Focus, a man aged 68, was not injured and remained at the scene.




The force said he is helping with the investigation.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor, with a Critical Care Paramedic, to the scene.


A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the cyclist.

“The man had suffered serious injuries in the incident and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.

“Sadly, despite their best efforts it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the car, a man, was uninjured in the incident.”
