CELEBRATIONS are in order as a dementia charity marks its 40th anniversary.

The Alzheimer’s Society, which has a base in Olton, supports 3,000 Silhillians living with dementia and their careers.

Janice Le Tellier, Alzheimer’s Society area manager for Midlands central said: “We want to reach everyone affected by dementia and our new Dementia Connect service, available in Solihull, will connect people with the right support, at the right time, in the right way.

“No-one should face dementia alone and with Dementia Connect, no-one will have to anymore.

“We understand how complex navigating health and social care services can be.

“Dementia Connect cuts through the confusion and gets people with dementia the support they need, when they need it.

“Dementia Connect is a mix of telephone support, personalised face to face support, side by side and self-management.

“Side by side matches people with dementia with our dedicated volunteers enabling them to keep doing the things they love.

“Dementia Connect also provides seamless access to our online forum Talking Point and information services.”

Since being founded in 1979, Alzheimer’s Society has helped sufferers across the country, changed the conversation on dementia, and helped fund research into the disease.
