PUPILS at a Shirley school hopped, skipped and jumped their way to the finish line for their annual sports day.
Kingswood School in St James’ Place held its sports day to encourage pupils to get out in the sun and involved in sport.
The day entailed a sack, egg and spoon, obstacle and running races – but ‘the emphasis was always on just trying your best.’
Head teacher Rob Luckham said: “Our sports day proved very popular this year with both pupils and parents alike. Lovely weather helped the event be enjoyable for all.
“Full school participation was our primary aim with enjoyment as a bonus.”
Nayan from the Oak Class celebrated the team’s success and said: “As Cresswell House captain, I enjoyed lifting the cup as we were overall winners, I felt very proud.”
Dylan from the Beech Class added: “I liked sports day because I won and got to race with my friends.”
