All for Ammi: McCann staff step out in aid of Let's Feed Brum

A MEMORIAL walk with a difference saw the chief executive of Solihull-based McCann Central step out on a 20 mile hike to the other side of Birmingham.

Dean Lovett pulled on his walking boots and chef whites in memory of the agency’s head chef and dear colleague, Ammi Edwards.

Together with some colleagues he left McCann Central’s office in Solihull for Ammi’s home in aid of ‘Let’s Feed Brum’, a charity close to Ammi’s heart.

The inspiration for the challenge came from Ammi himself, who 10 years ago walked home from McCann in aid of Marie Curie and in memory of another friend of the agency.

Dean set a target of £1,000 but in the end smashed it with £6,500, completing the walk in five hours and 18 minutes.

“Ammi captured everyone’s hearts here at McCann and was a true friend to all who passed through our doors,” said Dean.

“I can’t think of a better way of honouring his memory than by taking on the same challenge he set himself, and helping to support a cause that was so very important to him.

“Let’s Feed Brum is a fantastic charity that provides much-needed food, drink, essential supplies and friendship to those living on the city’s streets.

“I’d like to thank everyone who’s made a donation as I know it will make a real difference.”

Ben Rafiqi, a founder of Let’s Feed Brum, said: “Birmingham’s homeless community is the second largest in the UK.

“Here at Let’s Feed Brum we rely on the support of everyone in our community and we would like to thank Dean and everyone at McCann Central for their support.”
