ALL 15 Green Flag status parks across Solihull are in the running to be named among the nation’s top ten favourites, if they can win the public’s support in an online vote.

The parks, which span across the borough, retained all 15 of its prestigious green flag awards for the second consecutive year.

Green flags are awarded by an expert judging panel, but now the scheme’s organisers Keep Britain Tidy want park users to decide which green spaces should get the People’s Choice award.

Solihull’s Green Flag parks and open spaces are: Babbs Mill Local Nature Reserve, Bentley Heath Recreation Ground, Dorridge Park and Dorridge Wood Local Nature Reserve, Elmdon Nature Reserve, Hillfield Park and Local Nature Reserve, Knowle Park, Lavender Hall Park, Malvern and Brueton Parks, Meriden Park, Olton Jubilee Park, Palmers Rough, Robin Hood Cemetery, Shirley Park, Tudor Grange Park and Woodlands Cemetery.

Councillor Joe Tildesley, cabinet member for leisure, tourism and sport, said: “We are thrilled that Solihull retained all 15 of its green flag awards this year and it would be the icing on the cake if we were voted as the people’s favourite too.

“I’d encourage everyone to cast their vote and give Solihull’s fantastic parks or green spaces the recognition they truly deserve.”

Voting closes on September 30, with the top 10 sites being announced on October 16.
