THE YEAR of the Horse was welcomed at Alderbrook School.

Pupils at Alderbrook School highlighted the importance of cultural celebration and community cohesion during a Lunar New Year event.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Solihull Councillor Annette Mackenzie, Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst – Solihul West and Shirley MP and Saqib Bhatti – Meriden and Solihull East MP.

Dr Shastri-Hurst said: “It was a real pleasure to join pupils, staff and families at Alderbrook School to celebrate the Year of the Horse and to see first-hand the energy, creativity and pride that went into making the event such a success.

“Occasions like this showcase the very best of our community spirit, bringing people of different backgrounds and generations together in a shared celebration of culture, learning and mutual respect.”

Saqib Bhatti MP added: “It was wonderful to see so many young people proudly celebrating their heritage and sharing it with the wider community. Here in Solihull, we have a thriving community that make an enormous contribution to our economy and society.

“Alderbrook School deserves great credit for promoting inclusion, understanding and respect, and for creating opportunities that bring people together.

“I wish everyone one a very Happy Lunar New Year.”
