Air Ambulance surpass expectations throughout fundraising week

THE INAUGURAL Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) week has raised a huge £25,000.

Collections across the Midlands helped raise the grand total with over £7,000 donated on the streets of Warwickshire alone.

Money raised will go towards funding the vital service that the Air Ambulance provide and also help their sister service – Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

Taking place at the end of September, the week saw hundreds of supporters take to the streets to sell special Air Ambulance Week pin badges – painting all five of the counties the air ambulances serve yellow.

Katie Lockton, fundraising coordinator for Warwickshire Air Ambulance, said: “It was incredible to see the amount of people who wanted to take part and help in our first Air Ambulance Week.

“The support from Coventry and Warwickshire has been amazing – people were actually crossing the street to buy our badges and show their appreciation of their local air ambulance.

“Now we want everyone to tell their friends how much fun they had so we can make it even bigger next year.”

The charity, which receives no government funding, relies entirely on generous donations to raise money for its lifesaving service – each mission the WNAA fly costs an average of £1,700.

Since its inception in 2003, the WNAA has been out on over 16,000 missions – saving lives every day in the local community.
