DAREDEVILS, fitness fanatics and kind-hearted fundraisers are being sought by a Solihull charity to help boost funds for services.

Age UK is calling on Silhillians to take up a challenge to help provide vital services for older and vulnerable people in the borough.

The charity is currently looking for runners to take part in Run Solihull on August 10.

Participants can choose between a half marathon and a 10k race, and there is also a kids Race.

There are also some spaces on Age UK Solihull’s next skydiving day on April 6 at Hinton Airfield in Brackley, Northamptonshire.

Supporters are invited to take part in a tandem skydive, which the charity will pay for if at least £500 is raised in sponsorship.

Courtney Norton, an employee of Knowle Gate Care Home, completed a tandem skydive last September, raising £510 for the charity.

She said: “It was probably the best experience of my life butalso the most terrifying.

“I am so proud of myself for doing the jump and I think I might want to do it again someday.

“I would really encourage people to take the plunge and do this as it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Other challenges include Tough Mudder on July 5 or 6, an inflatable obstacle course in Coventry on July 26, and Run Alton Towers on November 15 and 16, which includes free ride access after completing a half marathon, 10k, 5k or kids race.

Age UK Solihull’s fundraising manager, Rebecca Jacob, sid:, “The funds raised by our supporters will stay in Solihull tohelp us to provide vital advice, friendship and practical support to olderresidents of the borough.

“Whether you’re looking for a long-distance run, a fun activity to do as a team, or experience a rush of adrenaline doing something scary, we hope you’ll find a challenge to suit you.”
