Age UK Solihull calling on Solihull residents to help fundraise

Solihull Editorial 7th Aug, 2019   0

SILHILLIANS are being called on to raise funds and give a helping hand to the borough’s older people – though the ‘Cog, Jog or Be a Mad Dog’ challenge.

Age UK Solihull is inviting residents to join in.

‘Cog’ asks cyclists to take part in a 55mile London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday, September 15. Registration costs £55 and participants are asked to raise at least £150.

‘Jog’ is the running challenge and will see racers take part in the Great Birmingham Half Marathon on October 13 with a minimum sponsorship of £200.

‘Be a Mad Dog’ is a tandem parachute jump at Hinton Airfield in Northamptonshire.

Daredevils are asked to raise at least £395 and terms and conditions apply.

Lorraine Hart, fundraising manager, said: “If you’ve been taking to the outdoors over the summer break either on two wheels or two legs, why not have a goal to aim for and take part in ‘Cog’ or ‘Jog’ this autumn?

“If you’re not into these sports, why not do a skydive? We have had participants in their 70s take part. All the money raised from the personal challenges stays in Solihull to help us provide our much needed services in the borough.”
