Age UK Solihull appeal to help elderly this winter

SILHILLIANS are being urged to help older people in Solihull stay warm, well, and connected during the coldest months of the year.

Age UK Solihull is calling on the community to support its Winter Appeal.

Winter can be a particularly difficult time for many older people, with rising energy costs, health concerns, and loneliness making life harder.

Donations to the appeal will go directly towards services that provide practical and emotional support, including hot meals for older people who are on their own at Christmas, electric throws or duvets, as well as activities in the community to reduce isolation and bring companionship during the festive season.

Donations will also support befriending visits to older people who live alone with no family nearby and provide a friendly, listening ear to older people.

Rebecca Jacob, fundraising manager at Age UK Solihull, said: “Winter is the toughest time of year for many older people in our community.

“With your support, we can make sure no one in Solihull has to face the cold and loneliness alone.

“Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Together, we can bring warmth, comfort, and companionship to older people in Solihull this winter.”
