A TENNIS club is set to get new equipment thanks to a housebuilder’s donation.

Hall Green Tennis Club was gifted a £500 donation from Barratt Homes which is said to go towards new equipment and operational costs.

Alex Knott, chair at Hall Green Tennis Club, said: “In my 20 years at this club, we have never had a donation. I recently took over as chair of the club, and we are trying to make it really stand out in the community.

“We are hoping to put a pickleball court within the facility for the community to use, as it’s an up-and-coming sport.”

Barratt Homes’ donation was arranged following Wimbledon, in which Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Poland’s Iga Świątek came out on top in the men’s and women’s finals, respectively.

Investing in local communities is a key part of building a new development, and the housebuilder’s support of Hall Green Tennis Club was in celebration of one of the most prestigious events in the tennis calendar.

Adrian Evans, managing director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “Hall Green Tennis Club is a fantastic hub for tennis enthusiasts in the local community, bringing people together to have fun and exercise.

“Wimbledon was the perfect opportunity to celebrate local clubs and encourage new residents to embrace their newfound communities in the year building up to the next tournament.”
