A day at the farm for Ukrainian refugees

A GROUP of 60 Ukrainian refugees and their host families have been treated to a day out last weekend at a farm in Redditch.

It was arranged by Kathleen O’Hara from Solihull, who hosting a Ukrainian family at her home, and wanted to do something to connect other families in the area.

Through the generosity of her family and friends, she has raised enough money to be able to arrange several day trips.

Kathleen said: “Johnsons Coaches very kindly and generously offered a free coach for our first trip last weekend.

“Attwell Farm in Redditch, kindly provided discounted tickets, and the families really enjoyed their day out.

“They’ve lost everything, they’ve come to a strange country and some of the ladies, most of the adults are busy learning english, going to college and lessons everyday and I just thought it would be nice to have some fun.”

She is taking a group to Warwick Castle on September 3 and after that she has another trip planned to Stratford.

Kath added: “I heard that the Shakespeare Trust will be hosting our visit which is wonderful.

“Without the generosity of family, friends and so many organisations I wouldn’t be able to do any of this.”
