BOOKWORMS have dug deep and raised funds for Marie Curie.
Linda Poulson, a member of the Marston Green Fundraising Group for the charity has hosted a round the clock book sale where donations are put into an honesty box for a second year running.
The group were joined by Saqib Bhatti, Meriden and Solihull East MP at the stall.
Last year the stall raised £1,041 last year.
These efforts form part of the wider Marston Green Marie Curie Fundraising Group activities, who in the last 11 years have raised in excess of £160,000.
The Marston Green Fundraising Group holds events in the community to support Marie Curie to provide care to terminally ill people in the borough.
Linda Poulson said: We were delighted to have a visit from Mr Bhatti to our Marie Curie bookstall, which shows the local support for this charity.
“We can always count on the Marston Green community to be generous with donations and supportive of our aim to raise funds for this wonderful charity many having benefited from the help and care given by our local hospice.”
Marie Curie is a UK-based charity that provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, as well as their families and caregivers.
They offer a range of services including in-home nursing and hospice care, as well as information and support through their support line and online community.
Mr Bhatti said: “I was delighted to come along to the Marie Curie Fundraiser in Marston Green last week.
“This amazing display of charitable fundraising is organised every year by Linda with the fundraising efforts consists of a large book sale, which relies on generous donations from the public and is open 24 hours a day, with a yellow bucket for honesty donations.
“I am incredibly proud to represent great volunteers like Linda, and the rest of the Marston Green fundraising group who have raised so much. Thank you”
