A BOY has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Shirley.
West Midlands Police arrested the 12-year-old boy on Sunday, February 8 after three other boys were attacked outside a shop on Stratford Road at around 9pm on Saturday (February 7).
Two boys, aged 15 and 14, were taken to hospital with injuries which police believe were caused by a machete.
One boy has life-changing injuries, and both remain in hospital for treatment.
Another teenage boy, aged 15, was also assaulted after being punched but did not go to hospital.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
The force said: “We understand the concern in the community following this serious incident.
“We will have extra officers in the area today and in the coming days to offer reassurance.”
