Will Anudike-Uzomah be selected in the first round of NFL Draft?

Solihull Editorial 11th Apr, 2023   0

Kansas State Wildcats’ season ended on a low note in a defeat to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl. But, there was plenty for the Wildcats to be pleased with after their 10-4 campaign, including the performances of a number of players that are bound for the NFL. Wildcats fans can bet on their rising stars using a free bet from one of the available sportsbooks to be selected in the opening rounds of the NFL Draft with a number of intriguing markets.

Anudike-Uzomah Stands Out

One player more than most has made a case to be selected in the opening two rounds of the NFL Draft is defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Anudike-Uzomah is one of the most exciting defenders that have emerged out of the Wildcats system, setting a number of school records in his three seasons on the defensive line. He had a breakout game in 2021 when he accumulated four sacks in the Wildcats’ win over the TCU Frogs, matching the all-time Kansas State record for sacks in a game.

The 22-year-old notched 11.5 sacks in his sophomore season, raising his profile on the national stage. All eyes were on the defensive end in the 2022 campaign to see whether he could maintain his production. Anudike-Uzomah did not disappoint in his junior season, earning eight sacks over the course of the term, even drawing maximum attention from opposing offensive coordinators.

He enjoyed another strong season with 8.5 sacks in 14 games, including a three-sack performance against Texas Tech. The defensive end was nullified by Alabama, which might bring out sceptics in the draft process, but he certainly has a chance to being taken within the top 50 picks.

Where Could Anudike-Uzomah Be Selected

Anudike-Uzomah has earned a lot of credit from scouts in the draft process, with NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah picking him as his 38th ranked prospect. Anudike-Uzomah has been invited to the NFL Combine, where he will further showcase his athleticism and strength through the litany of drills along with the team interviews. If he impressed enough, Anudike-Uzomah could sneak into the first round, as one of the slight knocks on the defensive end is his burst compared to other players at the position.

He will have the chance to convince NFL teams that he can be a first-round pick. His production is certainly encouraging, and a team such as the Kansas City Chiefs or New Orleans Saints in the back end of the first round would certainly be eyeing him up. If not, sides in the middle range of the second range, including the Cleveland Browns, could also be in contention. It promises to be a fascinating time for Anudike-Uzomah as he takes the next step on his career.
