Strictly Come Dancing star hot-footing into Solihull

WORLD FAMOUS performer and former Strictly Come Dancing winner Pasha Kovalev will star at the Solihull Arts Centre in May as part of his dance spectacular ‘It’s all about you’.

Partnered with popular TV presenter Caroline Flack, Pasha shot to fame in 2014 when winning series 12 of Strictly Come Dancing in front of an estimated 9.4 million viewers.

This year’s tour is Pasha’s fifth in the UK – he will be joined by fellow Russian dancer Anya Garnis, who moved to the States with Pasha in 2001 prior to his fame in the UK.

The dancer will visit Solihull Arts Centre on Tuesday (May 24) and Wednesday (May 25) for two nights of the finest entertainment the dance industry can offer.

With over 100,000 followers on Twitter, Pasha is looking forward to providing his fans with an evening of music, spectacular dancing, energy and sparkling costumes.

Speaking to Observer reporter Shaun Reynolds, Pasha said that his love of dance started when he was just eight years old.

The 36-year-old added: “Dancing was popular in my area when I was growing up so my mum took me along to a local competition and that’s how it all started.

“Every time I tour I aim to bring something new to the table.

“No tour is ever the same, we have different music, choreography and it’s refreshing.

“Our last tour was simply just dancing, however this time we have a story line with some added romance so it’s going to be exciting – a feel good show.”

For some, touring is the best part of their respective job – whether they be a singer, dancer or comedian.

Pasha explained that he prefers live performances to TV work as the stage is his own and provides the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

He added: “I have a great interaction with my audience and each dance tells a story.

“People like to become actors as a way of displaying their emotion and it’s the same with dancing.

“I enjoy being a dancer, that’s the best part of my job – being able to do something I enjoy.

“I never expected myself to go this far but the main focus is to dance, everything else comes as a bonus.”
