Premier League: Arsenal, Manchester City or Manchester United – Who Will Win the Title this Season?

Correspondent 15th Mar, 2023   0

The Premier League is slowly, but surely approaching its end. Most of the clubs have played over 25 games, and most analysts believe the rankings are set in stone. Of course, Tottenham and Newcastle fans are still holding out hope, but most are thoroughly convinced that the top three of the season will be Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United. The question we have, however, is who will rise to the top? All things considered, The Gunnars seem to be the ones who will take the gold this year. However, Manchester City is slowly closing the distance. So, in this article, we would like to explore which one of the three clubs will dominate England’s most prestigious football competition.

Manchester United

The first club we would like to take a look at is Manchester United. The Red Devils have won 20 League titles, 12 Football Association Cups, six League Cups, and 21 Community Shields. Internationally, they’ve performed just as well, having won the European Cup thrice, the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. Historically speaking, they are England’s most successful and most popular club. Some of the best UK betting sites continuously place Manchester United as the odds-on favorites to win a match. So, understandably, the Red Devils have quite a few fans backing them this season. Is it possible that they are going to overcome the odds and take the EPL trophy back to Old Trafford?

Unfortunately for fans of Manchester, we don’t believe that they will take the lead any time soon. They started the EPL on the wrong foot, losing their first two games against Brighton and Brentford. For most of the first half of the 2022/23 Premier League, they did not do too well. And while they recovered in the second half, their recent and devastating loss against Liverpool has left quite a few of their fans demoralized. Currently, they sit at 50 points, 11 behind Manchester City (who are ranked second in the Premier League). And, if their track record this season is anything to go by, that is where they will stay.

Manchester City

Unlike United, their Manchester rival, Man City, has quite a shot at rising to the top rank. They’ve won the English Premier League two years running, and are currently in the 2nd spot, only five points behind Arsenal. On Feb 15, The Sky Blues’ fans were treated to a spectacular 1 – 3 victory against the Gunnars, which inspired quite a bit of hope in the Manchester-based club. Since then, City have not lost a single match. Even more broadly, throughout the currently on-going season they have only lost four matches. Understandably, quite a few fans are excited for the Sky Blues’ prospects.

In their next match, Manchester City will be facing off against Liverpool. Though Liverpool’s rank is lower, their recent, spectacular victory against Manchester United has certainly driven up morale. Many wonder if that kind of victory can be repeated. Or will United’s home city rivals send Liverpool back to Anfield? Anticipation is high and excitement is rising. In the eyes of many, Manchester City have a very good shot of overtaking the Gunnars and winning their third EPL title in a row.

Arsenal

In 2022, Arsenal ended the season in the fifth spot. While admirable, it must not have sat well with the club. Because, this time around, they brought their A-game right from the start. Arsenal won their first five matches. And while they’ve had occasional bumps on the road, for the most part, they’ve kept up a certain degree of excellence. Thus far, they have only lost three games in the English Premier League. One came early in the season, when Manchester United defeated the Gunnars with a spectacular score of 1 – 3. The other two both happened in February 2023, when the Gunnars lost to Everton and Manchester City.

Since their loss against the Sky Blues, however, Arsenal has not lost a single game. It has been straight victories, and most of them not even close ones. The Gunnars have defeated the following clubs:

· Aston Villa (2 – 4)

· Leicester City (0 – 1)

· Everton (4 – 2)

· Bournemouth (3 – 2)

· Fulham (0 – 3)

Their next match is scheduled to happen on 19 March, and the Gunnars will go up against Cystal Palace, for a rematch. According to most analysts, the Gunnars are still the most likely to win the English Premier League 2022/23 season. Currently, they hold 66 points, 5 ahead of Man City, and 16 ahead of Manchester United. Some fans of the Sky Blues believe it is possible for their favorite club to overtake the Gunnars. However, most professionals are still backing Arsenal.

The Premier League Rankings

We are all aware who the top three are in the 2022/23 Premier League season. Apart from United, City, and Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle are the clubs to look out for. They currently hold the fourth and fifth rankings, with 48 and 44 points respectively. The Spurs are only two points behind Manchester United, and many fans are hoping for a comeback. If it all goes well, Tottenham might just overcome United, and reclaim their third ranking from earlier in the season.

Newcastle, on the other hand, don’t seem to have prospects for moving up. In fact, with Liverpool’s recent successes, you wouldn’t be wrong in assuming that Newcastle might drop to the 6th rank. After all, the Reds are only 2 points behind Newcastle. And their incredible success against Manchester United has certainly raised the club’s and the fans’ morale.

Conclusion

Though not the only thing to look forward to this summer, the English Premier League grand finale is certainly something all football fans are excited for. And it isn’t just the English that are waiting with baited breath. The EPL is, by far, the most popular and beloved national football league, having garnered hundreds of millions of fans worldwide.
