DORRIDGE Cricket Club have seen two of their junior teams reach national finals at Lord’s.

Dorridge’s under-13s and under-15s have reached the national final of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) T20 Cup in their respective age groups.

It is the first time any of Dorridge’s junior teams have reached the finals at the ‘Home of Cricket’. The finals take place on Saturday, September 14.

Under-13s and under-15s manager Christian Gregory said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Dorridge Cricket Club having the under-13s and under-15s teams playing in the national T20 finals.

“I have managed both teams for many years, so it is great to see their hard work and great team spirit paying off. Everyone is super excited about playing in the finals at Lords and hopefully we can bring both cups back to Dorridge.”

Lead coach for the under-15s, Asad Khan, added: “I am so pleased the team has reached the final. The combination of talent within the squad is second to none. Their skills, teamwork and commitment are inspiring, and they play an incredibly positive brand of cricket.

“Everyone knows their role in the team, and on their day any one of them can be a match winner. They really enjoy playing the game and this enjoyment comes through in their performances.”

Coach of both teams, Ben Chapman, said: “Many of the players who will be representing Dorridge have been with the club for a number of years now. It is great to see the progress they have made in their time with us. We hope the teams have a brilliant day and enjoy the finals.”

Dorridge’s head of cricket, Paul Rastrick, added: “It is remarkable to have both teams in the national finals. We are immensely proud of their achievements. Reaching the finals reflects the hard work the teams put in at training as well as the great work they put in on the pitch.

“There are so many people from the club to thank who have helped and supported these teams to get to the final, including the great support from their parents.

“I would also like to thank Complete Cricket for their continued support, and the Forward Drive Cricket Academy for the way we work together to provide players with the opportunity to play junior club level cricket.

“Finally, I would like to thank the ECB and MCC for running the competition and hosting the finals. We are looking forward to a memorable day out at Lord’s.”
