SOLIHULL-based cyclist Peter Horton will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record in support of the Cyclists Fighting Cancer charity later this month.
Horton will be joined by former Team GB cyclist Matt Bottrill as the pair attempt to cycle the most miles over a six-hour period.
The duo will attempt to break the current record, which stands at 147.077 miles, at Newport Velodrome on Saturday, March 18.
This means the pair will need to maintain a speed of over 25mph throughout the six-hour challenge.
And the pair are raising money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer – a charity which enables children and young people living with cancer across the UK to regain their physical fitness and mental wellness.
This is achieved by giving those who suffer from the disease new bikes, adapted trikes, tandems, other equipment and support with physical activity a key element in rehabilitation from treatments.
Approximately 2,400 children and young people, up to, and including the age of 18, are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK.
Since the charity was founded in 2005, they have awarded over 8,000 bikes and trikes and can only continue to do this with the support of fundraisers.
Horton and Bottrill are hoping to raise £2,500 for Cyclists Fighting Cancer.
