Brummies rider Harris falls just short in Memorial race

CHRIS Harris was left frustrated after falling one point short of a top-eight finish in the Peter Craven Memorial at Belle Vue.

The 37-year-old Birmingham Brummies rider picked up six points at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester on Thursday night, narrowly failing to qualify as one of the top-six drivers in the final race.

While he picked up a trio of second-place finishes in his opening four races, a mishap in heat 17 meant his hopes were ultimately quashed, despite mixing it up with Richard Lawson for large parts of the race.

The rise of Belle Vue duo Dan Bewley and Brady Kurtz through the rankings then sent Harris towards the back of the pack to put a dampener on the meeting.

Swindon Robins captain Jason Doyle was the eventual winner of the event, with Bewley and Kurtz finishing second and third respectively.
