Morrow up to second in Sprint Series after tearing up Shenington track

Solihull Editorial 3rd Sep, 2019   0

AN OVERALL finish of fourth has improved Harrison Morrow’s standing in the Shenington IKR Sprint Series after his latest outing on the Oxfordshire track.

The Solihull racer now sits second in the Honda Cadet class rankings with two rounds of the Series remaining, and currently has 731 points to his name, trailing leader Milo Manderson by 76 points at present.

Opening with a positive day of practice on Saturday, Harrison found great pace ahead of the sixth round of the Series – a marked improvement on recent weeks for the youngster.

Qualifying in sixth on Sunday, a straightforward opening heat and a fifth-placed finish led to a promising start to the day’s racing.

With a sudden downpour disrupting heat two, Morrow immediately took advantage after a cautious start, moving up to third and racing over six seconds a lap faster than his closest rivals.

Despite missing out on second after losing too much ground during the start of the heat, a third-place finish was a representation of his expert racing in the tricky conditions.

Another good drive followed in heat three, finishing fourth after only dropping one place all race, standing him in good stead ahead of the final.

A case of deja vu in the last race of the day followed when Harrison again dropped to fourth from a starting position of third on the grid, a place he found himself unlucky not to regain after a brave push towards the race end.

He was forced to settle for fourth in the race and overall, though the strong haul of points in reward have boosted his standing in the Series further.

After a week without racing, Morrow and his team return to the same track for the ninth round of the Shenington Kart Racing Club Championship.
