A GREAT British Bake Off contestant from Stratford is hoping to whisk up a storm in the tent.

RSC house manager Michael Chakraverty is inspired by the flavours of his Indian heritage and was taught to cook by his mum.

The 26-year-old is hoping to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood in the famous Bake Off tent with his cakes and pastries, which is where his ‘strengths lie’.

A RSC spokesman said: “We are so excited our very own Michael is going to be on Great British Bake Off.

“We’ll be watching along every week and eating cake everyday in support.”

The new series starts on Channel 4 on Tuesday (August 27).
