A MAN has been charged in connection with six carjackings in the space of a week in the Yardley area.
Tony Mitchell, of no fixed address, has been charged with multiple counts of robbery, attempted robbery and aggravated vehicle taking.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “It’s alleged the 34-year-old stole a Vauxhall Crossland from Kestrel Avenue just before 7pm on Tuesday, April 9 before trying to carjack a Hyundai Tucson in Fieldhouse Road and a VW Polo from the Swan Centre.
“And he’s accused of stealing a Nissan Qashqai in Croft Road just before 8pm on the same day.
“Mitchell will also hear claims in court that he attempted to steal a Volvo in Clopton Road, Garretts Green, at 3.20pm on Sunday, April 14, before successfully making off with a VW Golf on Cockshut Hill on the same day.
“He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Thursday, April 18).”
