HIGHGATE United continued their unbeaten start to the new Midland League Premier Division campaign with a 2-0 victory over Westfields.
The result was also Gate’s third successive clean sheet in the league and fourth in all competitions.
Westfields arrived at the Coppice Ground with a 100 per cent winning start after two games and they proved to be a tough nut to crack.
It was Lei Brown who opened the scoring for Gate after 55 minutes with a powerful header off Jame Wilcock’s cross from the right-hand side.
Gate then doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Kurtis Revan bagged his first goal for the club with a quality finish to beat Westfields keeper Ian Havard.
Goalkeeper Brad Catlow ensured Gate walked away with a clean sheet when he pulled off a fine save to deny Mark Magee from the spot in the final minute.
