BOXING: SOLIHULL’s Elise Glynn is celebrating after she successfully defended or gold medal while competing for England at the Great Britain Tri Nations Championships.
Boxing in the 54kg category, Elise began a hugely successful weekend by firstly defeating the highly rated Danielle Marshall from Hartlepool.
The victory was made all the more sweet for Glynn as her opponent had recently won a gold medal at an international competition and had only lost two of her previous 20 bouts.
The 16-year-old then defeated the Scottish national champion Shaira Robertson with an outstanding controlled display over three rounds.
“She was in stunning form, and really boxing at the top of her game,” said proud dad, Peter Glynn.
“She has now got a fantastic coaching team around her, and she is boxing with great confidence, and enjoying it too, which showed in Rotherham, where this event took place.”
Elise is now boxing at club level for the Warrington based Hook and Jab club, Warrington, under the watchful eyes of head coaches Derek and Amanda Groark.
Peter added: “It’s a lot of travelling, but it’s worth it. Amanda is a Team GB coach and mentor for Elise, who is responsible for that confidence and enjoyment.
“Her boxing is improving tremendously, and Elise’s terrific potential has every chance of being fulfilled now she is in such good hands.”
