A SOLIHULL school has been recognised in this year’s Pearson National Teaching Awards, picking up a Bronze Award for Making a Difference Secondary School of the Year alongside a string of further honours for its staff.
Lyndon School, part of Summit Learning Trust, received confirmation of the Making a Difference award this week, with judges recognising the school’s exceptional impact on the lives of its young people and its commitment to achievement, wellbeing and inclusion.
The recognition comes at a fitting moment. With Thank a Teacher Day falling next week, Lyndon School has even more cause to celebrate its staff, with two of its teachers each receiving a Bronze Award for Teacher of the Year.
The teachers who have won Bronze Awards are Laura Rose, who teaches English, and Kirstie Lupton, who is a modern foreign languages teacher.
A further four members of staff, Huong Thai, Samantha Leigh, Ayman Rehemtulla and Ellen Jones received Highly Commended recognition in the same category.
Syreeta Kapswara, head of school at Lyndon School, said: “This is a wonderful recognition of everything our community has worked so hard to build.
“To win the Making a Difference award is a real testament to the dedication of every member of staff, every young person, and every family who has played a part in making Lyndon the school it is.
“It’s fitting that so many of our teachers have been recognised too. We are incredibly proud of them.”
