Solihull Council welcomes new ward boundaries in next month's local elections

SILIHILLIANS will be heading to the polls next month to decide who makes the tough decisions for the borough.

Voters are being asked to have a say on who will represent their area for Solihull Council on May 7.

This year residents will be able to vote for up to three candidates following a change in ward boundaries.

The Local Government Boundary Commission carried out a review and of ward boundaries – and in some cases ward names – and updated them to ensure each ward represents a similar number of voters.

Solihull has 17 wards and residents can find theirs by searching an online map on Solihull Council’s website.




The ballot paper will list the candidates standing in your ward.

People attending will be required to show photo ID before casting their vote under the Elections Act.


Accepted forms of ID include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a UK, EEA or Commonwealth drivers’ licence; a Voter Authority Certificate and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person’s bus pass.

Polling stations across the borough are open from 7am until 10pm.

Anyone who is unable to attend their polling station on May 7 can can apply online to vote by post or proxy – where someone votes on their behalf.

The deadline for postal vote applications to be received by the Elections Office is 5pm on April 21.

The deadline for proxy vote applications to be received by the Elections Office is 5pm on April 28.

Anyone who is unable to apply online, can download either a postal vote or proxy vote application form and send the completed form to [email protected] or by post to: Electoral Services, Solihull Council, Council House, Manor Square, Solihull, B91 3QB.
