SOLIHULL Moors suffered a 4-3 defeat against Hartlepool United in a seven-goal thriller which featured more than 15 minutes of injury time.

Moors surrendered a two-goal lead in the home defeat at Damson Park as Conor Wilkinson’s penalty and Gavan Holohan’s bizarre own goal put the hosts in command.

However, Alex Reid and Jamie Miley struck shortly before half time to draw the visitors level at the break.

And former Moors loanee Tyrese Sinclair put Hartlepool ahead late on before sealing the points for the Durham club deep into injury time.

The home side reduced the deficit at the death when Emmanuel Sonupe scored a bicycle kick after Bradley Stevenson saw his penalty hit the bar.

And the result means Moors sit 10th in the National League table as Solihull saw their winless run stretch to four matches.

The home side took the lead after just eight minutes when Wilkinson scored from the penalty spot after Holohan handled the ball in the box.

And Moors doubled their lead on 24 minutes as Holohan’s attempted backpass from 30-yards out deceived goalkeeper Nick Hayes and ended up in the back of his own net.

The visitors halved the deficit five minutes before the break when Reid headed in from close range after Moors failed to deal with a free-kick into the box.

And Hartlepool equalised on 43 minutes as Miley lashed a shot into the bottom right corner from 20-yards out which left Laurie Walker with no chance.

The visitors lost Luke Charman to nasty injury after the break with the striker stretchered off following lengthy treatment.

However, Hartlepool completed the turnaround moments after the game restarted on 83 minutes when Sinclair, on loan at Moors earlier this season, volleyed home Matty Daly’s looping pass at the back post.

And Sinclair grabbed his second of the game 11 minutes into injury time with a low free-kick into the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

There was still enough time for Moors to reduce the deficit four minutes later when Sonupe acrobatically turned home a dropping ball after Stevenson’s spot kick crashed against the woodwork.

Solihull are next in action against Woking on Wednesday, February 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.
