CHRIS Millington heaped praise on his Solihull Moors players as the club continued their resurgence with an emphatic victory at Aldershot Town.

Moors romped to a 5-1 win at the EBB Stadium as Joe Sbarra netted a brace while Conor Wilkinson, Alex Whitmore and Emmanuel Sonupe all found the net.

Solihull look a team transformed under Millington since his appointment as Moors boss in October with the club just four points outside of the play-off places.

And Millington praised the work of his players to turn their season around following a dismal start to the campaign which saw Moors prop up the National League table in September.

Millington said: “I’m pleased with the scoreline, I’d be a fool not to be.

“We’re pleased with the clinical nature of our finishing albeit their goalkeeper was probably man of the match in the first half.

“He’s made three or four really fantastic saves to keep the scoreline down.

“We want to be a front-foot team and especially when the opposition goes down to 10-men.

“We want to be aggressive in our play and be fast and quick and press with intensity.

“It’s credit to the boys who have worked incredibly hard to try and turn the season around after a challenging start.”

Moors put Aldershot to the sword to take a five-goal lead only to concede with the home side down to 10-men late on.

And Millington admits Moors should have recorded a first clean sheet in the league since November.

Millington added: “Is it wrong that I’m disappointed we conceded? We’re working so hard and doing so well in terms of our defensive structure.

“We’ve earned the right to have a couple of clean sheets in the last few games because of our energy and application to press and regain possession.

“We should have been able to see it out and keep a clean sheet but it would be picky of me to focus on that.

“We didn’t control the game when they went down to 10-men.

“We want to be aggressive in our play and be fast and quick and press with intensity.”

Solihull host Carlisle United on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 3pm at Damson Park.
