A PAIR of cricketers from Solihull Sixth Form College helped England to international success at the Emerging Stars of Indoor Cricket tournament in India.
Twin sisters Emily and Rosie Ward spent a week in India during October half-term, playing in four matches to help England win the tournament with an undefeated record.
The sisters received their respective call-ups to the squad after impressing for their indoor team Jamia.
Emily and Rosie also play outdoor cricket and have featured for Earlswood Cricket Club since the ages of six and seven years-old.
Both players helped form the indoor Earlswood Eagles team.
Emily plays as an all-rounder with a preference for batting while Rosie specialises as a bowler.
Rosie said: “I take a lot of my aspirations from Marie Kelly, who grew up playing for Earlswood and went on to captain Warwickshire.
“She helped me grow my confidence within the sport and showed me how to raise the profile of women and girls’ cricket.
“I also love watching Sam Hain and Adam Hose, as they helped me get into cricket by showing me how quickly the game can change.”
Emily added: “Players that inspire me in indoor cricket include Leo Ward, D’nica Roff, Anish Patel, Zar Sulliman and Akeel Hussain who all help support my development in indoor cricket.
“I also wish to carry on promoting and supporting women and girls’ cricket alongside expanding the knowledge of indoor cricket.”
Both girls hope to represent England and take part in the World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa in September 2026.
