EARLSWOOD Town advanced in the Les James Challenge Cup with a 3-1 victory against Coventry Dunlop.

An own goal and strikes from Ben Roddy and Dan Elwell sealed victory for the Earls at The Pavilions.

Coventry play one level below the Earls in Midland Football League Division Three.

The Earls broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when Roddy produced a tidy finish from inside the penalty area.

And a Dunlop player then turned the ball into his own net from Ellis Vaux’s corner from the right on the half-hour mark.

However, Coventry reduced the deficit on 70 minutes when David Evans poked home from close range.

The visitors had a player sent off after he picked up two yellow cards with five minutes left to play.

And Elwell sealed the victory for the Earls with a powerful finish into the roof of the net.

Earlswood are next in action against Fairfield Villa on Saturday, August 23 with kick-off at 3pm at The Pavilions.
