SOLIHULL Moors have confirmed head of youth development Mike Fowler will leave the club at the end of the season.
Fowler joined Moors in 2021 to help oversee the launch of the club’s elite academy.
During his time with Moors, the club’s academy have won six league titles.
And in 2021/22 Solihull claimed the National League Academy North, the Floodlit Southern Division and the Joel Richards Memorial Cup titles.
A number of players have graduated from the academy into the first team during Fowler’s tenure.
Fowler said: “Reflecting on a fantastic five years and four seasons at the football club, I have a great sense of pride in what we have achieved together.
“In our first meeting, the vision was to be the ‘best in class’ non-league programme in the Midlands.
“I set out a 10-point plan and embarked on an incredible journey.
“We won eight titles, handed out 16 professional contracts, with 80 first team appearances and 25 different players involved with the first team.
“As a staff team we lived every day with the motto ‘if you care enough then you make it happen’.
“That said, I am now excited to see what my next challenge looks like on my journey.”
Moors chairman, Darryl Eales added: “Mike has been central to the foundation and successful development of the elite academy programme.
“His coaching ability is second to none combined with the importance of building the characters of the players.
“The success of the elite both in terms of trophies won and in terms of players having the opportunity to represent Moors at first team level is testimony to Mike’s dedication and we wish him well in his future career.”
Solihull director of football, Stephen Ward said: “Firstly, we would like to thank Mike for all his hard work and dedication to the academy over the past four years.
“He has given the youth development side of the club a tremendous foundation to build from and should be very proud of the work he has done and the core values that he has helped install.
“He is a highly skilled coach on the grass but also takes huge pride in helping aspiring young footballers develop as people.
“The work he has done has not only provided the club with first team players, but he has played a huge part in the career paths of many who have been part of the programme.
“Bringing through the next generation of young players is a huge asset for our club and we remain committed to giving those young players the best possible opportunity of progressing into our first team squad.
“Mike has been integral to the continued success of that vision and his work has instilled a culture and high performing environment to ensure it remains that way.”
