WARWICKSHIRE Bears Women will start the first-ever T20 Women’s County Cup with a trip South.

Bears Women will play one of Dorset, Devon or Suffolk in an away tie on Saturday, May 17.

As a Tier 1 side, Bears Women enter the competition at Round 3.

Bears head of women’s cricket, Laura MacLeod, said: “It’s an exciting new-look competition that may well throw up some surprise results.

“We want to make sure we’re not one of those shocks. It’s definitely a chance to win the first silverware of the season.

“Some could see it as a favourable draw, but a game away from home comes with added pressure and uncertainty, so we’ll need to be focused.”

The tournament will feature 37 teams across three tiers of the new women’s domestic structure in a knockout format.

And the competition will run throughout May with fixtures to take advantage of bank holiday weekends.

The competition will culminate with a three-match Finals Day at the County Ground in Taunton on Monday, May 26.

And the tournament will also crown the first domestic champions of 2025.

Bears Women recently unveiled their 15-player squad ahead of their first season as a Tier 1 side in a new-look, fully professional national women’s structure.

In addition to the County Cup, Bears will also compete in the Vitality Blast T20 and the One-Day Cup.
