ANDY Whing was proud of his Solihull Moors players following a huge 6-0 victory away at Ebbsfleet United as both teams had a player sent off in the first half.

Moors defender James Clarke saw red after just six minutes only for the home side to have Jez Davies sent off two minutes before the break at Kuflink Stadium.

Conor Wilkinson scored a half-trick while Michael Adu-Poku, Sam Bowen and an Anthony Stewart own goal saw Moors find the net six times in a ruthless second-half performance.

Whing said: “I’m proud of the players for their effort, we were down to 10-men after five minutes but we were brave.

“We stayed in the game and then they got a sending off which evened it up.

“To be four-nil up so early in the first 15 minutes of the second half was brilliant, that’s been coming from the chances we’ve had.

“The gameplan was excellent, we got the rewards in the end, it was a really good day for us.

“The performance and us being ruthless, clinical and scoring good goals and enjoying being on the ball was good to watch.

“There’s goals in this team, we’ve conceded way too many so the clean sheet is massively important, we’ve got to defend our box better.”

The visitors looked set to be in for a long afternoon after Clarke received a straight red card on six minutes after catching Kwame Thomas in the face with his boot.

However, Moors held firm before Davies saw red for the home side following a strong challenge on Jamey Osborne.

Whing’s men broke the deadlock three minutes after the break when Stewart headed Osborne’s free-kick from the right into his own net.

And Moors doubled their lead on 51 minutes as Adu-Poku burst into the box after surging down the right and placed a fine effort into the net via the aid of the post.

The visitors struck again six minutes later when Wilkinson bundled the ball home from inside the box following a blistering counter attack.

And Wilkinson doubled his tally for the game on the hour mark as he drilled a shot into the bottom right corner from Jack Stevens’ backheel to leave the home side stunned.

Ebbsfleet won a penalty soon after only for Laurie Walker to easily save Aaron Cosgrave’s tame spot kick.

Wilkinson completed his hat-trick on 73 minutes with a cool finish past Mark Cousins after Adu-Poku selflessly rolled the ball into his strike partner’s path.

And Bowen completed the scoring five minutes into injury time as the midfielder finished off a stunning 34-pass move.

Solihull are next in action against Hartlepool United on Saturday, November 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Damson Park.
