TWO members of Solihull-based ITF Fusion achieved a major milestone after coming away from a recent trip to Holland with coloured belts in what was their first competition abroad.

Jack Smith and and Taylor Smith entered the International Holland Cup last month and came up against some of the best Tae Kwon Do stars in Europe.

Both students were called up for there respective pattern category at the same time with Taylor finishing top of her groupd after beating 11 other competitors from several different countries to wiun gold.

Jack Smith had a bigger group to deal with and saw off several other competitors to reach the final and take home a silver medal.

Jack was the first to compete in his sparring category and unfortunately went out in the first round to a bigger opponent.

His team mate Taylor was next up and yet again faced bigger and stronger opponents but she used her skill to reach the play off for a bronze medal.

Taylor had to face a competitor who was a higher grade and more experienced, but she showed spirit ane eventual lost the fight to finish fourth.

Both students learnt from this experience and comments were made regarding there sportsmanship and conduct during this competition.

Both would not have achieved such high standards without the knowledge, time and support off England coach Wayne Burns and Reuben Williams.

Team Fusion would also like to thank Birmingham Exiles Rugby Club for providing excellent facilities for additional training to facilitate both students.
