Coventry RFC and Oxen Sports launch NHS shirt

Solihull Editorial 3rd Jun, 2020 Updated: 3rd Jun, 2020   0

COVENTRY Rugby and its new performance wear partner Oxen Sports have launched a special NHS Charities shirt as part of the club’s drive to give something back to the key workers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty over the past few months.

The shirt – which combines NHS blue, the rainbow colours which have become synonymous with the weekly shows of appreciation across the country and the traditional Coventry blue and white – will be worn at a home Championship match in 2020/21 which will be designated as ‘NHS and Key Workers Day’.

Part of the club’s crowdfunder over the past month has been a match ticket donation to NHS Charities – both for every £100 raised overall and as its own option within the rewards on offer.

So far more than 350 tickets have been donated this way and, with the crowdfunder still open, there is more time to show your appreciation for NHS staff by giving them a day at the rugby.

The shirt is available for £49.99 for adults and £39.99 for juniors, with ten per cent of the retail price going to NHS Charities. Order online at eliteprosports.co.uk/shop/coventry-rugby.

There is an initial limited run of 100 shirts, with more to be produced if there is demand.

Coventry Rugby managing director Nick Johnston says it is important for the club to be giving something back to the NHS and key workers.

“We all owe a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who has been keeping the country going and putting other people first over the past few months,” said Johnston.

“The best way we can do this as a rugby club is by celebrating them at a home match in 2020/21, which is why we included NHS match tickets in the crowdfunder and are launching this special NHS Charities shirt.

“The fantastic support we have had during the crowdfunder means we will be giving hundreds of tickets to local NHS staff and, hopefully with the shirt and match, we will be showing as much appreciation as we can.”

The shirt is going into production very soon with orders expected to be sent out towards the end of July.
