Pugstock aiming to score again for cancer charity

Solihull Editorial 13th Jun, 2024   0

FOOTBALL fans are set to help score even more for childhood cancer support charity Shine a Light at the annual Pugstock festival in Leamington.

It takes place in and around the Fat Pug on Guys Cliffe Road on Sunday (June 16) and is set to be the biggest ever thanks to the addition of a Fanzone where festival-goers can watch England’s first match of the Euros on a big screen.

Before kick-off there will be live music from bands from across the county as well as street food vendors, children’s entertainers, stalls and even a drum tuition tent.

And the festival will continue, showing the England vs. Serbia game from 8pm.

To incorporate the Euros fanzone and the increasing number of people attending Pugstock, the closure of Guys Cliffe Road will be extended from the junction with Rugby Road to Heath Terrace.

Pugstock has generated over £2k for Shine a Light so far, and it is aiming to raise a further £1k this year.

Pugstock starts at noon. Entrance is free and includes viewing of the England match. Those wishing to attend the evening Euros screening only will have to buy a £10 ticket.

It is organised by husband and wife Matt and Alex Crowther who run six pug pubs across Warwickshire.

Alex said: “It’s been really exciting to see Pugstock take off. As word gets out, it just keeps growing. It’s brilliant to be able to support a charity that does so much good work for Warwickshire residents on the back of it.

“We estimate that over 1,000 people came in 2023 and we’re expecting even more this year. Leamington is a fantastic place to live and Pugstock is a celebration of all the town and Warwickshire have to offer. We’ve got some great new acts and activities lined up this year, and we’ll be going all out to create an amazing atmosphere for England’s first match.”
