Knowle resident celebrates 100th birthday

CELEBRATIONS have been in full swing at a Knowle care home for one of its residents as she reached her 100th birthday.

Felicia George received congratulations from well-wishers far and wide, including greetings from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

She enjoyed an intimate celebration with a surprise visit from the Solihull Mayor, Councillor Shahin Ashraf. who brought her a bouquet of flowers.

Felicia grew up in Solihll and went to Sharmans Cross Senior School.

It was on a visit back to her old school that she where she met Basil George and they were married in 1945.

She worked as a bookkeeper before retirement.




Over the years Felicia loved working in her garden, knitting on her knitting machines and corresponding with penfriends worldwide.

She has lived at Job’s Close Residential Home for almost seven years.


The Mayor of Solihull said: “What a delight it was to meet with the staff, residents, the family of Felicia George and the extraordinary Felicia herself, who turned 100.

“Her vibrant spirit and remarkable stories made this visit and celebration truly special.”
