Killer mum jailed for minimum of 32 years

Solihull Editorial 2nd Aug, 2019 Updated: 2nd Aug, 2019   0

THE KILLER mum who murdered her two young daughters will be in prison until she is at least 55.

Louise Porton, 23, of Skiddaw, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 32 years.

She killed her children – three-year-old Lexi Draper and 17-month-old Scarlett Vaughan – by deliberately obstructing their airways.

Paramedics pronounced Lexi dead at the family home in Beechwood Court, Rugby in the early hours of January 15, 2018.

Scarlett was pronounced dead at hospital on February 1, 2018 after being taken there by paramedics.

Porton was charged with their murders following an investigation by Warwickshire Police.

The court heard that Porton killed the children because they got in the way of her life.

Det Supt Pete Hill of Warwickshire Police said: “We welcome the sentence handed to Porton. These were premeditated murders for which she has shown no remorse and the length of the sentence reflects this.

“I would like to thank the jury; they diligently went through the appalling details of Porton’s crimes. They saw through her lies before returning a guilty verdict.

“The family of Lexi and Scarlett have thanked everyone for their kind messages and thoughts. I would now like to ask that they be left alone as they continue to grieve.”
