Cycle storage makeover set for Solihull station

Solihull Editorial 12th Nov, 2019 Updated: 12th Nov, 2019   0

CYCLISTS in Solihull will have improved bike storage at the railway station.

Transport for the West Midlands will improve cycle storage at Solihull railway station, on Station Approach, opening up 30 new spaces at the end of November 2019.

TfWM said: “We hope to have the spaces available from the end of November 2019, there will however be some disruption, involving closure to the cycle parking available at the station, which will mean a temporary reduction in cycle parking spaces.

“Between November 11 – 21, cycle parking will be unavailable at the drop-off area next to the station. You will still be able to park your bike at the cycle parking next to Newswave during this period.

“Between November 18 -21, the cycle parking next to Newswave will not be available. All users are requested to remove their cycles by November 17. During this period, you will not be able to park your cycle at Solihull railway station. Please check with Chiltern Railways on their policy for cycle carriage or you can find out which other local stations offer cycle parking via networkwestmidlands.com.

From 22 November 2019, the cycle parking will re-open at its new capacity of 60 spaces. This will include a mix of two-tiered cycle parking and traditional ‘Sheffield stands’.

The transport agency added: “Our aim is to increase investment in cycling to £10 per person per year to give a total ten year investment of £283m. We will continue to work with partners to deliver the improvements to cycling provisions and build business cases for future cycling investment in the region.”
