POLICE investigating a body discovered on the M42  in Warwickshire last night (November 15) have found a vehicle thought to have collided with the safety barrier.

The red Mazda was found along with the body of a man, in the southbound carriageway between junctions nine and ten for Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth, at around 5.20pm

The body will undergo a post mortem in the coming days.

Sergeant Leanne Mason said: “This was obviously a very sad incident, and the road was closed overnight while investigations took place. I know this caused long delays for a great many motorists, so I’d like to thank everyone for their patience.

“A thorough investigation continues today into the circumstances surrounding the death and as such, we would appeal for anyone who was travelling along that stretch of motorway at the time to come forward if they haven’t already.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident should call police on 101.
