Zego Launches Flexible Van Insurance for Couriers and Tradespeople

Solihull Editorial 20th Jun, 2024   0

Leading commercial motor insurer Zego has announced the launch of their new van insurance product, offering flexible coverage options tailored to the needs of couriers, delivery drivers, tradespeople and businesses across the UK.

Extending Coverage to Light Commercial Vehicles

The insurtech firm, known for providing usage-based policies to self-employed drivers and riders, is extending its reach into the growing light commercial vehicle market with two main types of cover – business van insurance for tradespeople and courier van insurance for delivery drivers.

“Vans are the lifeblood of many small businesses, from busy couriers to hardworking tradespeople,” said Sten Saar, CEO and co-founder of Zego.

“But traditional van insurance hasn’t kept pace with how people are actually using their vehicles for work. Our new product changes that, combining the flexible, app-based approach we’re known for with tailored protection for how vans are really used.”

Business Van Insurance for Tradespeople

Zego’s business van insurance, also known as ‘carriage of own goods’ cover, is designed for tradespeople like plumbers, electricians and builders who use their van to commute and transport their tools and equipment between jobs. The comprehensive policy includes cover for the vehicle itself in the event of accidental damage, theft or vandalism, as well as protection for any tools, materials or personal belongings carried inside.

Courier Van Insurance for Delivery Drivers

For delivery drivers and couriers, Zego’s ‘carriage of goods for hire and reward’ policy provides the necessary coverage for transporting parcels, packages and other items on behalf of third parties. The fully comprehensive plan includes goods in transit insurance to protect the items being carried, as well as public liability in case of any accidental injury or property damage caused in the course of the courier’s work.

Optional Add-Ons for Enhanced Protection

Both types of cover can be further enhanced with optional add-ons like breakdown assistance and replacement vehicle hire, ensuring van drivers can stay on the road and keep their business moving.

Flexible, App-Based Policy Management

True to Zego’s flexible ethos, the new van insurance is powered by the company’s smartphone app, enabling customers to easily access documents, make changes to their policy and even earn safe driving discounts via the Zego Sense program which monitors and rewards good driving habits with renewal savings.

“We understand that van drivers’ insurance needs are as diverse as the businesses they run,” said a, Zego spokes person.

“Whether they’re delivering fast food or construction supplies, our goal is to give them a simple, seamless way to get the exact cover they require, along with useful extras, and the convenience of managing it all at their fingertips.”

A Trusted Provider Shaking Up the Market

With over 58 million policies sold to date and a 4.8 Trustpilot rating, Zego is a trusted provider of commercial motor insurance, and its expansion into the van market looks set to shake up an often inflexible sector in favor of hard-working sole traders and small businesses.

The new Zego van insurance is available now for online quotes and purchase, with policies starting from just £65 per month. For more information, visit the Zego website.
