Mikron Theatre Company ride the waves at Leamington allotments

A ROVING band of actors are set to stage a tale of heroism on treacherous waters at a Leamington allotment site.
Mikron Theatre Company is stopping off at St Mary’s allotments to perform a play celebrating the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) on August 8 at 6.30pm.
The award-winning company drew a record crowd on their last visit to the allotments when the crowd watched the show from hay bales and plastic chairs in the car park.
Artistic director Marianne McNamara said: “I take the legacy of Mikron very seriously and our promise to make theatre everywhere for everyone.
“For 46 years Mikron has toured to places that other companies don’t, and that means we are often deep in heart of the countryside, with no venue nearby, or finding ourselves performing in the most unlikely of places – a boatyard, an allotment site, even inside a tunnel.
“And this year we will be adding youth hostels and lifeboat stations to the places we perform in.
“Our shows are often performed outdoors and for a majority of them you don’t even need to buy a ticket – we pass a hat around at the end.”
Mikron will also perform at Foundry Wood in Leamington on August 6 at 1.30pm.
