Explosive Dragonslayer show impresses at Warwick Castle

Solihull Editorial 6th Aug, 2018   0

AN EXPLOSIVE new show saw Warwick Castle reduced to rubble – thanks to an impressive light show complete with fire breathing dragon.

Dragonslayer is the castle’s first evening show – and they haven’t done things by halves. Fire breathers, pyrotechnics, fire jousting and fireworks make sure this night out is an experience for both young and old.

It tells the tale of local hero Sir Guy of Warwick, who famously battled mythical creatures including a Dun cow to win the heart of Felice, the Earl of Warwick’s daughter.

Following Guy throughout Europe, the performances start at sunset with fire jousting and sword-fighting in an arena.

The first half of the show ends as Felice announces Warwick Castle has been set upon by a fiery dragon.

A torch-lit procession leads the audience to the castle’s main courtyard to see if Guy can kill the beast and save the town.

Here the Dragonslayer show really comes into its own. The light show is breath-takingly good and sees the walls of Warwick Castle reduced to rubble before the audience’s eyes. A fire-breathing dragon climbs around the castle walls to battle Guy, in a fight which sees our hero dodge real flames.

Guy prevails and slays the beast, and the castle is lit up by an impressive firework display before the rest of the couple’s doomed love story plays out.

Tickets to the evening event start from £15.
