Dreaming of stardom in Gypsy at Leamington's Loft Theatre

Solihull Editorial 5th Dec, 2017   0

DREAMS of stardom take over in award-winning musical Gypsy at Leamington’s Loft Theatre.

The musical follows Rose as she desperately tries to force her two daughters, June and Louise into a life of Vaudeville theatre.

When June abandons the act, Rose makes the less talented Louise take her place, yet finds herself caught between drab Vaudeville and sleazy burlesque. How far is Rose willing to go to make her daughter the star she always dreamed of?

The show contains many songs that have become popular standards, including Everything’s Coming up Roses, Together (Wherever We Go), You Gotta Get a Gimmick, Let Me Entertain You and All I Need Is the Girl.

Director, Tim Willis said “To bring this wonderful show to life requires a strong cast and I am privileged to have been able to assemble a team of no less than 43 actors (including our three canine stars), and nine musicians. I am delighted that once again the Loft Theatre is presenting a Christmas show that features child actors – 22 of them to be precise!”

Often referred to as the greatest American musical, Gypsy is a story about love, motherhood and ambition.

The production runs until December 16.
